Rocky Mountain Biodiesel holds grand opening

Rocky Mountain Biodiesel held its grand opening Aug. 19 at its new 1 MMgy production facility completed in June in Parker, Colo. The facility supplies B100 and B99.9 to regional fuel distributors and club members. Rocky Mountain Biodiesel club memberships are available to consumers at the Parker facility for $20 annually. The current club price for B99.9 biodiesel is $2.30 per gallon.

Rocky Mountain Biodiesel produces biofuel from local waste vegetable oil, diverting it from the landfill and municipal waste treatment plants. The company Web site offers free pickup of WVO in the Denver area, and from the surrounding area restaurants "for a nominal monthly fee." Rocky Mountain Biodiesel uses state-of-the-art advanced biofuel processing technology designed, built and tested at the Colorado facility. "When we decided to begin refining advanced biofuel here in Colorado, we made the decision early to use off-the-shelf components produced by American companies to reduce the possibility that we would have to wait for parts from Europe or China to get the plant back online if there was a problem," said Randall Lichner, chief operations manager.

Rocky Mountain Biodiesel is owned by Bioenergy Inc., a Colorado corporation founded in 2008 as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hawaiian Islands Bioenergy Inc. President and CEO Sanda Lichner said the company plans to develop plants in Hawaii, Nevada and California.
