Springboard Biodiesel, manufacturer of the trademarked BioPro line of biodiesel processors, will host a comprehensive, introductory workshop on small-scale production at its facility in Chico, Calif., March 26 and 27. The course is designed to help people who want to make their own biodiesel, or for those who wish to polish their biodiesel skills and learn more, said Matt Roberts, vice president of marketing.

"There aren't many of these types of courses offered anymore," he said, adding that this may be a reflection of the industry's current state.

The course will be held at Springboard's new, scaled up facility where it manufactures the BioPro line of fully automated biodiesel processors, units that are scaled to produce between 40 and 100 gallons of fuel per hour. "It's the Mercedes of biodiesel processors," Roberts said of Springboard's BioPro line.

The course will cover topics such as production demonstrations, equipment overviews, relevant chemistry and production processes, titration basics, how to make and sell biodiesel, case studies, latest studies on emissions, a tax credit overview and more. The cost to attend the two-day course is $199, and includes meals and a tour of the Sierra Nevada Brewery, which uses solar panels, fuel cells and biodiesel at its facility.

The course will be held at 341 Huss Lane in Chico, Calif. Click here to sign up.
