Biodiesel use is increasing across the country and the latest pump openings are giving consumers better access to the renewable fuel.
In Topeka, Kan., Capital City Oil began selling B20 at a newly built fueling station in May. West Central FS Inc. is Capital City Oil's supplier.
In Tennessee, McNutt Oil has opened three biodiesel pumps in Alcoa, Newport and Loudon. The Loudon station offered B100 in the past but recently reduced its blend to B20 to match the Alcoa and Newport stations. Griffin Industries supplied the first load of 6,800 gallons in April, which was almost used up in mid-July.
In Arkansas, Blue Seal Petroleum of Dewitt has been offering B2 blends at its Stuttgart One-Stop station since January 2004. Knox Nelson Oil Company supplies the biodiesel to the Stuttgart One-Stop through Citgo Petroleum Corporation.
In Apple Valley, Minn., the Farmers Union Co-op's Apple Valley Marathon station became the first facility in the Twin Cities area to offer B2.
In Mount Shasta, Calif., Cross Petroleum opened a B20 pump at its Pacific Pride Fueling Station on July 14.
In Pennsylvania, Worley and Obetz Inc., a Manheim, Pa., energy company, opened the state's first retail biodiesel station. The Wo-Go station started selling B5 in late June.
In Oregon, Sequential Biofuels opened three biodiesel pumps in March 2004. Two B100 pumps and one B20 pump dispense the renewable fuel in Portland. Sequential Biofuels purchases its biodiesel from World Energy.
In Munising, Mich., Nelson Oil Co. started selling B100 and splash blending it as needed. The soy-based product became available July 1.
