BDI-BioEnergy reports increase in technology orders
BDI-BioEnergy International AG recently reported an increase in technology orders the first part of this fiscal year. In February, BDI secured a €3.1 million ($4.4 million) contract for the expansion of a biodiesel plant in Scotland, and its Enbasys subsidiary is also building a €4 million biogas plant in Germany, a contract secured this month. Additionally, new orders in the medium vacuum distillation segment have been strong, the company reports, adding that its current booked orders come to €28 million, “setting a solid base for utilization of the company in 2011.”
"Since the nuclear disaster in Japan, the subject of renewable energy sources is more timely than ever,” said Wilhelm Hammer, BDI CEO. “It has again shown that the promotion of alternative energy sources is essential to our energy supply.”
BDI stated it will continue to work diligently to develop and commercialize technologies for the production of bioenergy from waste and byproducts. Algae for products in the pharmaceutical and food industry and the company’s patent-pending "BioCrack" method, which utilizes byproducts from oil refineries to coprocess biomass into fuel, are examples of ongoing research at the company. “Biodiesel and biogas are important ingredients of a sustainable mix of renewable energies, " Hammer added.
