REG adds Predaris as Northeast Bioheat, biodiesel manager

Ames, Iowa-based Renewable Energy Group Inc. has appointed Paul Predaris as biodiesel sales manager overseeing the company’s Bioheat development of the market in the Northeast U.S. Predaris’ principle duties in this role will be to work closely with home heating oil and petroleum distributors and terminal owners to expand the market for Bioheat and biodiesel.

“Bioheat and biodiesel demand in the Northeast is rapidly expanding due to progressive state and local energy policy and the renewable fuel standard,” said Gary Haer, vice president of sales and marketing for REG. “As America’s largest biodiesel producer, we are committed to focusing our nationwide distribution and logistics resources in this region, and the addition of Predaris to our team is evidence of that commitment.”

Predaris joins REG with nearly 15 years of industry experience at Portsmouth, N.H.-based Sprague Energy Corp. where he most recently served as key account manager. He has served on the board of directors and as a member in several state oilheat councils and associations.

“Predaris’ extensive experience in the region and knowledge of the biodiesel industry allow him to effectively partner with downstream supply chain partners in making Bioheat and biodiesel more widely available,” Haer added.

In July, REG filed a registration statement on Form S-1 with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission with intentions of pursuing an initial public offering. Currently, REG operates six biodiesel plants with a combined production capacity of 212 MMgy, with five of those facilities wholly-owned by REG and one being a leased plant.
