Canadian biodiesel producer Biox makes staff changes
Toronto, Ontario-based Biox Corp. recently announced its Board of Directors has appointed Kevin Norton as the company’s new CEO. Chris Clinning has been appointed to the position of executive vice president and chief financial officer. According to information released by the company, Norton and Clinning will jointly lead the overall operations of Biox.
Norton is a co-founder of Biox, and previously held the position of chief operating officer. In his new role, Norton will be accountable for the company’s operations, engineering, human resources, research and development and technology optimization activities. Clinning, in turn, will be responsible for finance, accounting and capital markets. He will also assume responsibility for the company’s sales and marketing and business development activities.
“These appointments demonstrate the Board's confidence in the experience and expertise of our senior management team,” said David Colcleugh, chair of Biox’s Board of Directors. “Kevin and Chris have demonstrated their capabilities to lead the company in achieving its ambitious growth goals. The continuity of leadership that they provide will help to ensure that we maximize the value of both our existing Hamilton facility and our planned expansion in a second manufacturing plant.”
While Biodiesel Magazine was unable to reach a representative of Biox for further comment on the company’s staff changes, information released by Biox in August noted the company is working to expand production to the U.S. At that time, Norton said that his company had identified as site for its second proposed production facility and has executed a nonbinding memorandum of understanding with the owner of the site. Biox currently operates a 67 million liter (17.7 million gallon) biodiesel plant that is located in Hamilton, Ontario.
