Loyola University Chicago hosts free biodiesel workshop March 19
Loyola University Chicago is holding a free, all-day biodiesel workshop Saturday, March 19. The Collegiate Biodiesel Workshop aims to bring together the leaders of biodiesel efforts on college campuses to discuss best practices, lessons learned from established programs, share resources and network.
Loyola University Chicago anticipates leveraging the work already being done on projects ranging from technology development to business analysis, and even full-blown student-run businesses, such as the one at Loyola.
The workshop will include tours, panel presentations and discussions. Lunch and coffee are provided at no charge.
“The free, all-day workshop will focus on how high schools and colleges can develop biodiesel projects in various forms—student-run businesses like Loyola, class projects, after school clubs and more,” said Zach Waickman, the biodiesel lab manager for Loyola University Chicago’s Institute of Environmental Sustainability. “We will also have a panel of local industry folks—traders, a grease hauler and a RIN specialist—in the afternoon talking about the biodiesel industry beyond the educational setting.”
