La.-based Golden Leaf Energy biodiesel plant to expand production
Golden Leaf Energy, a 2.2 MMgy multifeedstock biodiesel producer and distributor in Harvey, La., plans to expand its production and add 11 new jobs to the community with financing help from the New Orleans Startup Fund.
The $50,000 NOSF is investing in the biodiesel plant was leveraged by Golden Leaf Energy to secure another $200,000.
“The investment from the Startup Fund allows us to move our plant to full production,” said Troy Clark, president and CEO of Golden Leaf Energy. “It expands our operations and gives us the ability to bring more product to the ever-expanding biofuels market.”
NOSF is funded through a combination of private donations and public programs, including the Louisiana Economic Development Corp., U.S. Economic Development Administration, and the Louisiana Office of Community Development/Disaster Recovery Unit.
Golden Leaf Energy’s Louisiana biodiesel plant news follows yesterday’s announcement that Methanex is relocating a Chilean methanol plant to Geismar, La., a $550 million project.
