At least two biodiesel producing firms, Bronx-based Tri-State Biodiesel and Ames, Iowa-based Renewable Energy Group, are providing biodiesel to power and heat various activities leading up to and during Super Bowl XLVIII at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J.

Tri-State Biodiesel is providing biodiesel, made from used cooking oil it has been collecting from MetLife Stadium since last year, to help heat tents outside the stadium and Super Bowl parties in and around the arena.

In the week leading up to the big game, REG announced it would provide up to 15,000 gallons of biodiesel blends, from 5 to 20 percent, to the stadium and 18 generators for events along Super Bowl Boulevard in Midtown Manhattan.
