Axens receives chemical engineering award

January 1, 2008

In late October, French company Axens received the 2007 Kirkpatrick Award for Chemical Engineering Achievement from Chemical Engineering magazine. The award was given to Axens as a result of its sustained commercial demonstration of Esterfip-H, the company's solid catalyst for biodiesel processing. Esterfip-H was released commercially in early 2006, licensed by Diester Industrie in Sete, France. In May 2007, a biodiesel plant in Sweden began using the heterogeneous catalyst in production. According to Axens, six additional biodiesel plants around the world are licensing the technology and are in various stages of development.
