Bay BioDiesel, Golden Gate partner

September 1, 2006

A San Francisco petroleum distributor is providing a new home for a Bay-area biodiesel plant. Golden Gate Petroleum is affiliating itself with Bay BioDiesel LLC, a plant formerly under construction in Martinez, Calif., just northeast of San Francisco. The plant is being moved to a larger location in San Jose, Calif., according to Golden Gate Petroleum spokesman Kris Miller.

The plant's new location offers railroad access on a rail spur, and increased storage for feedstocks and finished product. Start-up for the plant is expected by October. The additional warehouse space will allow the plant to double in capacity from its initial 2.5 MMgy, Miller said.
