Breathable Bus Coalition rolls into action

March 1, 2005

Concerned citizens in the greater Puget Sound area of Washington have united to promote the use of biodiesel in school buses. The Breathable Bus Coalition, formed in late 2004, has taken action by working with schools, educating consumers and working with legislators to exempt school bus fleets from a special fuels tax on biodiesel. The group has about 25 active members, including University of Washington student Ravi Mikkelsen. Mikkelsen also helped launch the National Collegiate Biodiesel Consortium, a group that ties together biodiesel programs at universities and research labs across the nation.
