Broin, SDI to develop bacteriophage technology application

In August, Broin & Associates signed a development contract with Strategic Diagnostics Inc. (SDI) for the application of a patent-pending bacteriophage technology that could take the place of the antibiotics currently used to manage unwanted organisms in ethanol fermentation. The applications will directly support Broin & Associates' Broin Project X (BPX) raw starch hydrolysis technology for fuel ethanol production, according to SDI. SDI began formally focusing its bacteriophage technology toward ethanol production earlier this year, SDI's Tony Simonetta told EPM.
