Cargill buys shares in U.K.-based biodiesel producer

Minneapolis-based agri-giant Cargill Inc. has taken a 25 percent shareholding in Greenergy Biofuels Ltd., the subsidiary of U.K. biofuels company Greenergy Fuels. Cargill has been working with Greenergy to manage the supply of rapeseed and to provide the crush facilities for its conversion into oil for biodiesel production.

Greenergy Biofuels Ltd. is building a 114 MMly (30 MMgy) biodiesel plant, which is slated for start-up in late 2006, at Immingham on Humberside, U.K.
