Praj Industries Ltd. has broken ground on the first integrated cellulosic ethanol demonstration plant in India. The facility will take in a variety of feedstock sources, including corn stover, cobs and sugarcane bagasse. Once operational, the plant will have the capacity to process 100 dry metric tons of biomass per day.
According to Praj, the expected cost of the project is $25 million. In addition to demonstrating technical parameters of the technology, including water optimization and energy integration, the project will also develop the biomass value chain, including feedstock handling and biomass composition.
