Central Texas Ethanol Project Moves Forward with Feasibility Study

June 1, 2003

The Central Texas Ag Development board of directors met in Austin on May 19th to select a company to perform a feasibility study for an ethanol plant to be located in Central Texas. After months of reviewing applicants from around the nation, BBI International from Colorado was chosen. Board president Kit Worley, of Milam County, said, "The members unanimously selected BBI for the feasibility study. Because of this company's experience and performance record along with high recommendations, we felt they were the one to go with and feel confident they will do a good job for us." The study should be completed in July.

In August of last year, CTAD was awarded a USDA matching grant for this study. If the study is favorable for an ethanol plant located in central Texas, this will offer farmers and ranchers some very much needed help for their struggling markets. The ethanol industry creates both direct jobs at ethanol production

Central Texas Ag Development is a grassroots organization comprised of farmers and ranchers from a ten county area that was formed a year ago for the purpose of furthering the use and development of agricultural products in the Central Texas area. The eleven member board was selected by its members. Donations from farmers and ranchers, as well as other concerned individuals, has provided the funds, along with the matching USDA grant, to perform the feasibility study for the ethanol plant. EP
