The Iowa Renewable Fuels Association applauded the ceremonial groundbreaking for Oak Street Station, highlighting the commencement of construction on a new renewable fuels retail location that will offer higher blends of ethanol and biodiesel to Northwest Iowa motorists. The fueling site, located in Inwood, Iowa, will offer ethanol blends E10, E15, E30 and E85, as well as biodiesel blends B5 and B99.9 for independent jobbers and special use customers.
&ldquo;We&rsquo;re excited to have received a &lsquo;Fueling Our Future&rsquo; grant that will enable us to grow our business and offer unique, locally produced, clean-burning renewable fuels to Inwood motorists,&rdquo; stated Oak Street Station Accountant Lisa Van Regenmorter. &ldquo;This funding will allow us to put in the infrastructure to offer higher blends of renewable fuels that are not currently available in the area.&rdquo; &nbsp;
&ldquo;We congratulate Oak Street Station on becoming a center for renewable fuels by offering some of the highest levels of ethanol and biodiesel available in Northwest Iowa,&rdquo; stated IRFA&nbsp;Managing Director Lucy Norton.&nbsp;&ldquo;This innovative approach will keep Iowa in the forefront of the biofuels revolution and provide motorists with greater access to the cleanest, lowest-cost fuels available.&rdquo; &nbsp;
Oak Street Station was selected to receive $125,000 in funding for the new site from Iowa Gov. Terry Branstad&rsquo;s &ldquo;Fueling Our Future&rdquo; program, administered by the Iowa Department of Transportation and the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship.
The new fueling site will feature three ethanol blender pumps and five biodiesel fueling positions, in addition to a vehicle service center and convenience store. Construction is scheduled to begin this summer, with completion expected in January 2015.
Iowa is the leader in renewable fuels production with 42 ethanol refineries capable of producing more than 3.8 billion gallons annually, with three cellulosic ethanol facilities currently under construction. In addition, Iowa has 12 biodiesel facilities with the capacity to produce nearly 315 million gallons annually.
The Iowa Renewable Fuels Association was formed in 2002 to represent the state&rsquo;s liquid renewable fuels industry. The trade group fosters the development and growth of the renewable fuels industry in Iowa through education, promotion, legislation and infrastructure development.
