European ethanol producer CropEnergies has announced plans to resume ethanol production at its facility in Wilton, U.K., starting in March. The company said the facility will initially run at reduced capacity to supply orders from British customers.

CropEnergies said the speedy introduction of E10 into the U.K. market will be imperative to keeping the 400,000-cubic-meter-per-year facility in continuous operation.

The company also said questions related to Brexit regarding customs for imports and exports to and from the U.K. must be clarified immediately. “The future customs regulations are of existential importance for the production site Wilton,” CropEnergies said in a statement.

The U.K. opened a public consultation on the potential introduction of E10 in July 2018. The government has since published its response to the pump labelling aspect of the consultation. A further response is expected to be published later this year regarding the E10 and consumer protection aspects of the consultation, according to the U.K. Department for Transport.

Additional information on the E10 consultation is available on the Department for Transport website.
