Eastman sells Arkansas-based subsidiary, biodiesel facility

Nearing press time, Eastman SE, the Arkansas-based subsidiary of Eastman Chemical Co., was in start-up mode with its newly expanded biodiesel facility built from excess chemical processing capacity at its Batesville, Ark., plant, confirmed Gary McDonald, Eastman SE's manager of administration. The facility's production output of biodiesel increased from 6 MMgy to 18 MMgy.
In late July, Eastman Chemical announced that it agreed to sell the Arkansas-based subsidiary to Viceroy Acquisition Corp. McDonald said Viceroy will continue biodiesel production operations at the Batesville site. Furthermore, McDonald told Biodiesel Magazine that Viceroy expressed interest in aggressively adding more biodiesel production capacity.
