Eco-Energy Inc., based in Franklin, Tenn., has commenced operations at an ethanol distribution terminal located in Shreveport, La. The facility is a joint project between Eco-Energy and Red River Terminals.

Located close to area gasoline terminals, the facility will provide customers with an outlet for receiving ethanol via rail, according to Eco-Energy. The terminal is equipped with a railcar manifold system and a dual truck loading rack that will allow for the simultaneous offloading of up to 10 railcars per day. Eco-Energy will be responsible for the day-to-day logistics, throughput, and accounting activities for this terminal.

The ethanol distribution terminal in Shreveport is an addition to other Eco-Energy alternative energy projects, centered on the marketing, trading, transportation, and distribution of biofuels. The company, founded in 1990, currently manages and operates more than 20 storage and distribution sites in the U.S. and Canada. In all, it manages nearly $2 billion in sales and handles more than 10 percent of the biofuels market.
