Ener-G Natural Power is set to begin construction on its second landfill gas management facility in Mexico, and recently announced it has partnered with a company based in Hartlepool, England, to develop three biogas projects.
Regarding the project in Mexico, Ener-G is working with its sister company Biogas Technology to design, finance, build and operate a &pound;2.3 million ($3.09 million) biogas power generation facility at the Durango city landfill site. According to information released by Ener-G, the facility will initially feature 1.5 MW of capacity. The plant is currently expected to begin power production in mid-2013. The two-phase project began in 2008 when Biogas Technology was appointed by the Municipality of Durango to collect and flare the biogas.
According to Ener-G, it also partnered with Municipality of Aguascalientes to open a landfill gas facility at the San Nicol&aacute;s landfill. The 2.475 MW plant is supplying electricity to Nissan to power its vehicle manufacturing plant
To develop the three biogas projects in the U.K., Ener-G announced it has partnered with Seneca Global Energy to generate up to 3.8 MW of power at three landfill sites. Ener-G will design, build, finance, operate and maintain the three facilities at landfill sites at Blaydon, Longhill and Gilberdyke.&nbsp; The facilities are scheduled to be operational in March.
"We are delighted to work with Seneca Global Energy to help them realize the full renewable energy potential of landfill gas,&rdquo; said Hugh Richmond, managing director of Ener-G Natural Power. "The projects will be funded by ENER-G, including operation and maintenance. Over the past decade we have designed, built and safely operated more than 100 landfill gas facilities, providing in excess of 160MW of generation capacity."
