EPA signs off on rescinding RFG

In mid-February, the U.S. EPA announced the official revocation of the 2 percent oxygen content requirement for reformulated gasoline (RFG), as authorized in the U.S. Energy Policy Act of 2005. The ruling will go into effect nationwide May 5. California's RFG requirements will also be rescinded, starting April 24, according to EPA spokeswoman Marilyn Bennett. At the signing of the Energy Policy Act, reports stating that California was able to discontinue oxygenate blending immediately were not accurate.
