Ethanol Plant Ends Up in Oregon

August 1, 2003

Treasure Valley Renewable Resources (TVRR) announced its plans to build an ethanol plant in Oregon instead of Idaho, as originally planned, The Associated Press said July 24.

The company had hoped to locate the plant in Payette County, Idaho, but those efforts crumbled in May when county commissioners couldn't agree on a zoning change that could have gotten construction started.

Officials from Oregon, Malheur County and the city of Ontario, Ore., put together a multimillion-dollar package of incentives to lure the plant across the border. According to the Business Journal of Portland (Ore.), TVRR eventually chose 115 acres in Malheur County for its facility.
