Information published by Envivia specifies that wood pellets produced at the Southampton plant are transported by truck to the Port of Chesapeake for export to European utilities. The plant employs more than 70 full-time employees.
Enviva owns four other pellet plants, including a 365,000 metric ton plant in Ahoskie, S.C.; a 90,000 metric ton facility in Amory, Miss.; a 500,000 metric ton plant in Northampton County, N.C.; and a 136,000 metric ton plant in Wiggins, Miss.
