Flometrics launches second biodiesel rocket

April 15, 2009

Carlsbad, Calif.-based aerospace engineering company Flometrics Inc. planned a second launch of a biodiesel-powered rocket May 2, before press time. CEO Steve Harrington said with RP-1 kerosene-based rocket fuel, the failure would have resulted in a fire. However, the higher flash point of biodiesel helped to minimize any fire.
