Florida Division of Forestry expands biodiesel usage

January 24, 2007

Two of the Florida Division of Forestry's largest districts-Withlacoochee and Blackwater-have made the switch to B20 in their heavy equipment and maintenance vehicles, including motor graders, tractors, backhoes and loaders, according to Florida Agriculture and Consumer Services Commissioner Charles Bronson. Although the installation of specifically designated fuel apparatuses on storage tanks was necessary, there were no modifications needed for the equipment. Florida's Bunnell District successfully operated on 11,300 gallons of B20 for eight months in 2006, and that program is anticipated to expand throughout the division's 15 districts.
