Growing challenges, growing team: NBB communications department expands
November 20, 2009
The NBB's communications team is growing, giving the industry more resources to define and defend biodiesel. NBB welcomes the promotion of Jessica Robinson to director of communications. Robinson has served as senior communications specialist since January.
After almost 10 years as the NBB's director of communications, Jenna Higgins Rose is leaving the organization to begin her own consulting practice, Rose Media, and to spend more time with her young son. She will remain a part of the NBB team as a senior communications advisor.
The NBB is also hiring a communications and members specialist to support popular member services, such as daily news clips and the Member Minute, as well as ongoing industry communication. Michael Frohlich, director of federal communications, continues to lead communications efforts in the NBB's Washington office.
These changes provide more resources with minimal impact on the organization's budget. They come at an opportune time, as the past year continues to challenge biodiesel's positive image. Although public opinion research shows voters view biodiesel favorably, a sustained barrage of uninformed criticisms could weaken that support. A strong communications team is more important than ever to defend and define biodiesel to consumers, and promote it as the sustainable, sensible fuel that it is.
