ISB recognizes Premier Ag LLC for biodiesel blending

July 1, 2004

The Indiana Soybean Board (ISB) recently recognized Columbus, Ind.-based Premier Ag LLC for its unique commitment to blending biodiesel into all of its diesel fuel. ISB's Belinda Puetz told Biodiesel Magazine that the company was convinced biodiesel blending was the right thing to do after one of its board members attended the National Biodiesel Conference in Palm Springs, Calif., in early February.

"The [Premier Ag] board discussed it in March and decided that it was the right thing to do," Puetz said. "They were completely sold on it."
In just four months, Premier Ag has been recognized as one of the only fuel marketers in the nation blending nearly all of it diesel fuel with soy-based biodiesel. In fact, Puetz said, the company markets more soy-based blended fuel than any other retailer on record.

"We market millions and millions of gallons of premium distillates to accounts across southeastern Indiana, and since March, almost every gallon is a B2 soy blend," said Premier Ag Energy Manager Mike Carson. "We're committed to it for our customers."

According to Carson, Premier Ag's decision to incorporate biodiesel into its full line of diesel fuels would not have been possible without support from regional consumers, local board members and the co-op's fuel refiner, Countrymark Co-op
