Kings win biodiesel business award

Robert and Kelly King, president and marketing director respectively, of Pacific Biodiesel Inc., received recognition from the Small Business Administration (SBA) as Maui County's 2005 Small Business Persons of the Year. The SBA award is based on financial success, employment increase record, fortitude and creativity in overcoming obstacles, and community involvement. In 1996, Robert King started the business in 1996, which offered the first retail biodiesel pump in the United States. Robert's wife Kelly joined the company in 2003. The company originated from King Diesel, a family generator and diesel engine business that began in 1980. The couple was nominated by Lolita Feliciano of Bank of Hawaii.
