Kruse family donates to university ethanol plant

November 13, 2007

The family of Otto Kruse, founder of O.H. Kruse Grain and Milling, which is now the dairy and specialty feed supplier Western Milling, recently made a $2 million commitment to assist in the design and construction of a new feed mill and ethanol plant at Kansas State University. The new facility will be able to demonstrate and teach dry-milling and fractionation technologies as a pre-fermentation step in the ethanol process. "We believe that K-State will play a central role in bridging the biofuel and feed industries with development of this one-of-a-kind teaching and research facility," said Fred Cholik, dean of Kansas State's College of Agriculture.
