In order to facilitate trade growth and access, Lansing Grain Company LLC shifted its ethanol trading operation to Lansing Ethanol Services LLC (LES) on March 1. LES, headquartered in Overland Park, Kan., is a joint venture with Australia-based Macquarie Americas Corp. "Macquarie's financial strength allows LES the ability to offer unique pricing alternatives for ethanol producers on the primary commodities in the process," said Tom Irmen, business development for Lansing Ethanol Services. He highlighted the company's ability to provide long-term pricing on inbound corn, natural gas, ethanol and distillers grains. LES works with plants, marketers, blenders and oil companies; Irmen said it fills an underserved space in the ethanol marketplace.
