Border States Cooperative of Ortonville, Minn., opened the state's first ethanol blender pump with a grand opening ceremony this morning. The pumps, similar to those already being used in South Dakota, allow motorists to select the blend of ethanol they put in their tanks. Choices include E85, E50, E30, E20 and E10.

According to general manager Mel Domine, the co-op installed the pumps last year to dispense E85 but weren't legally allowed to dispense ethanol blends other than E85 and E10. With a change in state rules, those blends are now available at the pump.
