Northeast Biodiesel LLC receives USDA grant

Northeast Biodiesel LLC has received a $250,000 grant from the USDA that will help support building equipment purchases for a 500,000-gallon per year biodiesel plant near Greenfield, Mass. The plant may be producing ASTM-certified fuel from recycled vegetable oil by the end of 2005, Interim Manager Lynn Benander told Biodiesel Magazine. Construction is expected to begin January 2005. Leasing negotiations are underway for the 8,000-square foot plant. The state has received $75,000 from the DOE to create local markets for biodiesel.
