Northeast Conference Goes Beyond Expectations

August 6, 2010

This is going to be short and sweet because I'm still in Boston and am off to attend a panel discussion shortly.

But I did want to take this opportunity to thank everyone including attendees, sponsors, exhibitors, moderators and presenters who made the Northeast Biomass Conference & Expo such a great event.

I especially want to thank Bill Swift, who led us on an interesting and informative tour of the Wachusett Community College district heating system, and Charlie Niebling and Steve Walker of New England Wood Pellet for leading us on an extensive tour of their facilities in Jaffrey, N.H.

I think people in Massachusetts will be talking about our plenary session where attendees were treated to a frank discussion about the carbon neutrality and sustainability of woody biomass for a long time. You can read more about that discussion in Associate Editor Lisa Gibson's story "Conference plenary session addresses Manomet study" in this newsletter.

There were even rumors at one time that protestors had filed for a demonstration permit with the local authorities but I don't believe they showed up.

That being said, the weather wasn't the only thing that heated up the city of Boston this week.
