NYMEX lists new ethanol swap contracts

August 27, 2007

The New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX) launched two new cash-settled ethanol swap contracts in early July.

The outright contracts being offered are Chicago Ethanol (Platts) Swap and New York Ethanol (Platts) Swap. The new futures contracts are listed both on NYMEX ClearPort Trading (CPT) and on NYMEX ClearPort Clearing (CPC). Each of these new futures contracts will be available during the normal trading hours on NYMEX ClearPort Trading. The contracts are for 42,000 gallons of ethanol. CPT and CPC billing rates and the cash settlement fee are 85 cents for exchange members and $1.35 for nonmembers. The terms and condition product specification rules for each of the new futures contracts are available in the NYMEX online rulebook at www.nymex.com/rule_main.aspx.

The Chicago Board of Trade introduced an over-the-counter ethanol swap contract in December 2006.
