The phone calls to biomass-power plants in operation and idled have begun. The Biomass Magazine staff has logged over 200 phone calls this week, and will probably make another 200 next week. The information will be used in our spring 2010 U.S. Biomass Power Map. Next week, we start calling the plants that are under construction and proposed.
If you have a dedicated biomass power plant that uses solid biomass fuel and you haven't received a call from Biomass Magazine, please contact me at rjohnson@bbiinternational.com. The same goes for biomass power projects, but these projects must have a site selected that we can mark on a map in order to be included. And, if you have a message on your phone from a Biomass Magazine representative, please call us back.
To indentify plants that are currently operating, we are using a spreadsheet from the U.S. Energy Information Administration. That information was gathered in 2008, so we are updating the information on all of those plants before we include them on the map. Unfortunately, those spreadsheets don't include phone numbers so we have to use the Internet to find contact information, which tends to slow the process down somewhat.
Now I must cut this blog short so I can return to my phone list.
