Photovac Inc. has released the MicroFID (flame ionization detector), a volatile organic compound analyzer that detects methanol leaks in biodiesel plants. The portable analyzer is operated with just one key, displaying critical data in less than three seconds. It also provides data-logging capability so that readings can be stored in the instrument and downloaded to a computer for subsequent analysis and recordkeeping purposes. The Massachusetts-based company manufactures handheld instruments for the detection of volatile organic compounds in air, soil and groundwater, among other products and services.
