Process optimization seminar planned in St. Paul

Four ethanol industry service providers are collaborating on a seminar aimed at ethanol plant managers responsible for maximizing plant profitability. The Process Optimization Seminar is set for Feb. 8-10 in St. Paul, Minn., and is organized by Fermentis, Fremont Industries Inc., Novozymes and Phibro Ethanol Performance Group.
The condensed, tightly focused ethanol school has been well received by past attendees, according to Tom Slunecka, who has coordinated the seminars as vice president of marketing for Phibro. He recently formed his own company, Groundfire Marketing, taking on the seminars as his first project. This will be the seventh such seminar, kept to a maximum of 50 participants to enable better small group interaction. In addition to sessions planned by the fermentation and process experts from the four companies, industry veteran Randall Sigle will share insights on keeping plant staff focused on the details that make a difference in the bottom line.
General sessions will involve two outside speakers addressing broader issues. The U.S. Grains Council will cover the handling of export inquiries and Dr. Harold Tilstra, technical service leader for DDGS with Land O’Lakes Purina Feed LLC, will discuss the impact of new regulations regarding distillers grains.
