Repsol has signed a framework agreement with Neuron BPh for the development of projects of joint interest in the area of industrial biotechnology. Neuron, developer of registered technology platform MicroBioTools, works on the development of bioprocesses for the food, chemical, pharmaceutical and energy industries.
The development of bioprocesses by Neuron Bioindustrial include the isolation and selection of microorganisms, optimization and scaling studies in bioreactors, and technical and economic feasibility studies in industrial plants.
Repsol technical managers have identified Neuron Bioindustrial as a strategic partner for its experience and know-how in the area of industrial biotechnology in the areas of industrial applications, biopolymers and bioenergy.
Among the developments achieved by Neuron's technology platform stresses MicroBiOil , a novel technology for the production of second generation biodiesel from crude glycerin; and TriBioPlast, a technology for the production of bioplastics.
