Rhode Island expands tax exemption

Following small business tours late last year, Rhode Island legislators modified the state's biodiesel fuel tax exemption to make it more effective. The previous tax exemption on B100 had a very small impact which the legislators learned from biodiesel producer Newport Biodiesel, Newport, and distributor T.H. Malloy & Sons Inc., Cumberland. The new legislation passed in July makes blended biodiesel manufactured in Rhode Island exempt from state fuel taxes amounting to 32 cents per gallon.
