S.D. Explores Natural Gas Deposits for Ethanol Plant Power

South Dakota Gov. Mike Rounds said he wants to explore natural gas deposits on the eastern side of South Dakota for the state's booming ethanol industry. Fred Steece, oil and gas supervisor for the South Dakota Department of Environment and Natural Resources, told EPM that several groups have talked to state administration about evaluating potential resources. However, exploration hasn't started yet. Steece said he isn't aware of any existing natural gas deposits near South Dakota ethanol plants.
