The U.S. Senate voted 79-14 Friday to pass the 2007 farm bill, a $286 billion measure that includes several measures aimed at the biofuels industry. A Senate and House of Representatives conference committee will now iron out differences between the Senate's version of the bill and the House version passed in July.

The last farm bill expired Sept. 30 and has been extended by legislation expanding the program under an omnibus continuing resolution. Conference committee work on the bill could happen in January, paving the way for the bill to end up on the president's desk.
