Sioux River Ethanol, LLC Breaks Ground

June 1, 2003

Broin Companies and the farmer-owners of Sioux River Ethanol, LLC celebrated the beginning of construction on their ethanol plant near Hudson, South Dakota, May 28.

Sioux River Ethanol will process nearly 16 million bushels of corn into 45 million gallons of ethanol and 135,000 tons of Dakota Gold Plus distillers dried grains with solubles (DDGS) annually. The plant is expected to employ approximately 40 people.

The plant is being designed and built by Broin Companies of Sioux Falls, South Dakota. "Sioux River has created a new market for regional based corn supplies; it is providing new highly technical jobs and will contribute millions of dollars to the local economy through its operations," stated Jeff Broin, CEO of Broin Companies.

"We congratulate the farmer-owners of Sioux River Ethanol as they begin construction on what will be South Dakota's eleventh ethanol plant," said Bob Dinneen, president of the Renewable Fuels Association. "South Dakota has aggressively expanded its ethanol industry over the past few years. The positive economic results can be seen up and down Main Streets in communities near the plants." EP
