UDSA: US wood pellet exports reach 738,300 tons in August

The U.S. exported 738,300.5 tons of wood pellets in August, according to data released by the USDA Foreign Agricultural Service on Oct. 4. Pellet exports were up when compared to the 464,853.2 tons exported in August 2018 and the 451,299.1 tons exported in July 2019.

According to the USDA, the U.S. exported wood pellets to approximately a dozen countries in August. The U.K. was the top destination with 526,962.6 tons, followed by Belgium-Luxembourg at 138,069.3 tons, the Netherlands at 30,111.3 tons, Denmark at 27,716.3 tons, the French West Indies at 11,004.7 tons and Canada at 3,833.4 tons.

The value of U.S. wood pellet exports reached $97.37 million in August, up from $58.54 million in July and $57.95 million in August 2018.

Total wood pellet exports for the first eight months of 2019 reached 4.36 million tons at a value of $593.4 million compared to 3.64 million tons at a value of $490.51 million reported for the same period of 2018.
