Roderick Arnold has been named Brookings, S.D.-based VeraSun Energy Corp.'s director of transportation. Arnold will be responsible for the management and optimization of VeraSun's railcar fleet of ethanol tanker cars and hopper cars used for the transportation of dried distillers grains. Previously, Arnold worked for 23 years at Cargill, most recently as the assistant corporate rail fleet manager and fleet maintenance manager.
"I am looking forward to the transportation opportunities and challenges that are ahead for VeraSun as they continue to differentiate themselves in delivering the majority of their ethanol via unit trains to key customers in major markets," Arnold said. "VeraSun has demonstrated its ability to effectively and efficiently manage their supply chain economics and integrated logistics while providing the highest level of customer support."
A native of Cleveland, Ohio, Arnold earned his bachelor's degree in business administration with an emphasis in transportation and logistics management from Kent State University in Kent, Ohio.
Through 11 operating facilities, VeraSun has more than one billion gallons of annual ethanol production capacity. Six additional facilities are currently under construction or in development with a combined capacity of 660 million gallons.
