January 1, 2006

Corning Inc., a global technology company and supplier of quality emissions control substrates and filters, announced in mid-November that Volkswagen AG will equip its European diesel passenger vehicles with a new particulate filter first made available by Corning in 2005. The advanced diesel particulate filter, named Corning DuraTrap AT, features three innovations in particulate filter design, the company reported. The filter is made of an advanced aluminum titanate composition to reduce integrity issues from thermal shock. Its structure is monolithic-providing added strength-and it showcases a new cell configuration to improve ash storage.
