Researcher builds solar collector for algae feedstock

An industrial technology researcher at Sul Ross State University in Alpine, Texas, is designing and building a solar collector that can be used to process and distribute light and heat to grow algae feedstock for biodiesel. Florida Syngas LLC has been awarded $3,000 through the Florida Phase Zero program to create a Phase 1 proposal for the USDA's Small Business Innovation Research Program. REG's technology can produce biodiesel from algae

Renewable Energy Group of Ames, Iowa, has announced it has technology capable of producing biodiesel from algae oil. The company said it is working with several groups to commercialize algae production, but it is not producing algae itself. REG said it has adapted it multi-feedstock technology to refine oil from a variety of algae strains and produce biodiesel exceeding ASTM standards.READ MORE

Kauderer Group Energy submits LOI for Ohio site

The Kauderer Group Energy, a subsidiary of business and finance advisor The Kauderer Group, has submitted a letter of intent to broker the purchase of an 87-acre plot of land in Marion, Ohio, for the construction of a biodiesel production facility.READ MORE

Pure Biofuels opens biodiesel facility in Peru

Six companies receive BQ-9000 certification

Six new biodiesel producers and marketers have received the National Biodiesel Board's BQ-9000 quality assurance certification. According to the NBB, more than 75 percent of the biodiesel produced in the United States is now produced and marketed by companies that are BQ-9000 certified.READ MORE
