Wisconsin biodiesel consumption increases

The Wisconsin Bio Industry Alliance reports biodiesel consumption in Wisconsin is growing, based on ots analysis of data compiled by the Wisconsin Office of Energy Independence. In 2007, the Wisconsin state government and the University of Wisconsin system increased their biodiesel consumption 842 percent over the previous year.READ MORE

Thurmond: Future is sustainable feedstocks, exports

Over the next decade, global demand for biodiesel will shift to Asia while global supply will shift to the southern hemisphere, according to Will Thurmond, president of Emerging Markets Online and author of "Biodiesel 2020: A Global Market Survey." Greenline, BlueSun make Inc. magazine list

Two privately held biodiesel industry companies have been named to Inc. Magazine's list of the 500 fastest-growing companies in the United States. Larkspur, Calif.-based Greenline Industries, a manufacturer of biodiesel production equipment, was listed seventh on Inc.'s overall list and was the No. 1 energy company for 2008. Golden, Colo.-based biodiesel producer Blue Sun Biodiesel was ranked 10th out of 23 energy companies.READ MORE

NBB studies carbon dioxide emissions in truck fleets

The National Biodiesel Board is sponsoring a study to determine how much carbon dioxide emissions can be reduced and at what cost when biodiesel is used by an over-the-road truck fleet. The NBB is partnering with Indigenous Energy LLC in Oak Park, Ill., developers of the Emissiontracker emissions calculation software and Los Angeles-based States Logistics Services Inc., a fleet and logistics company, to track emissions from a fleet of trucks during a six-month pilot study.READ MORE

Two Million-Mile Haul verifies B20 performance

Partners involved with the Two Million-Mile Haul over-the-road B20 demonstration test found that B20 performed at a level "comparable with that of petroleum diesel." The demonstration, which began in the fall of 2006, consists of two groups of 10 Decker Truck Line Inc. semi-tractors running with flatbed trailers on matched routes to either Minneapolis or Chicago. The interim test results were announced during the Great American Truck Show in Dallas on Aug. 21.READ MORE
