Gen-X moves forward with advanced biorefinery plans


A unique biorefinery being developed by Gen-X Energy Group Inc. in Moses Lake, Wash., is nearly complete. According to Ramon Benavides, the company's co-founder and vice president, the plant will produce biodiesel, refined glycerin and biochemicals.

BARD prepares to take algae production to new heights


Morrisville, Penn.-based BARD Holdings Inc. recently announced its shift from research and development to the commercialization phase of its algae production technology. Its first facility is expected to produce 40,000 gallons of algae oil per year.

Northeast Iowa Community College to host biodiesel workshop


Northeast Iowa Community College is hosting a free biodiesel workshop at its Calmar campus March 24. The three-hour class aims to educate mechanics and equipment owners on the benefits and use of biodiesel. Pat Osterhaus will instruct the class.

Idle Texas plant uses convertible notes to spark investment


EQM Technologies & Energy Inc. went looking for working capital, and according to Robert Galvin, CFO of EQM, the company has found it. After a reverse merger to acquire Beacon Energy Holdings, EQM needed funding to restart a 12 MMgy plant in Texas.

Raptor to provide process technology for Eco Ventures Group


Groveland, Fla.-based Raptor Technology Group signed a contract with Eco Ventures Group to install its process technology at EVG's proposed 3.6 MMgy multifeedstock biodiesel production facility in Groveland. The plant is expected to open in April.
