Haldor Topsoe to provide PetroAlgae with catalyst

PetroAlgae has formed a partnership to upgrade the Melbourne, Fla.-based company's algae oil technology, and the upgrade comes from a known, traditional method: catalysis. The partnership is with Haldor Topsoe's U.S. subsidiary based in Houston.

AGQM round robin testing set to begin

AGQM organizes round robin testing for FAME and rapeseed oil fuel in Europe annually. The 2011 testing period is about to begin. Round robins for verifying test methods and accuracy of lab work have a long, successful tradition, AGQM said.

Solix receives funding for commercial development, changes name

Solix Biofuels Inc. has secured $16 million from inside investors as part of a Series B finance round. It also changed its name to Solix BioSystems to better reflect its role as an algae production systems provider, said Joanna Money, vice president.

Ultra Green Energy Services Inc. expanded operations at the New Hyde Park Fuel Terminal in New Hyde Park, N.Y., by increasing railcar storage capacity by 30 percent. It's Long Island's lone operating rail-to-rack terminal dedicated to biofuels.

Green Fuels to begin production of FuelMatic biodiesel systems

Nevada-based Green Fuels America Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of U.K.-based Green Fuels Ltd., will begin manufacturing feedstock-flexible FuelMatic biodiesel processors this spring. The community-scale processors can make 5,000 gallons a day.
